Join fellow Bronx River Rambler Stephen Paul DeVillo as we explore both the new Starlight Park and the legendary old Starlight Park. Ramble with us - and check out the festivities at the annual Amazing Bronx River Flotilla!

We’ll hear about a World’s Fair that wasn’t, the Bronx Coliseum that came from Philadelphia, and the lively Starlight Park amusement park, with its unique swimming pool fed by the Bronx River, which hosted everything from boxing and soccer matches to political picnics, even opera and cricket! We’ll see how restoration efforts have reclaimed this once-abandoned patch of the Bronx River, learn about historic submarines on the Bronx River, and hear about the lost New York, Westchester and Boston Railroad that opened 100 years ago this year. Also learn about the Bronx River Alliance's campaign to Bridge the Gap - by building phase 2 of Starlight Park!

Meeting locations:
10am Ramble - meet at West Farms Square Subway Station
#2 or #5 subway West Farms Square Station (at East Tremont Avenue) also reachable by Bx 9, 21, 36, 40 and 42 Buses.

The tour is free, requires no reservations, and will take about 2 hours, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water. For more information call the Bronx River Alliance at 718-430-4665.

(updated: 2 April 2013 - earlier announced afternoon ramble will not take place - join us at 10am!)
