Bronx River Environmental Enrichment and Leadership for Students (EELS) is an internship program that introduces youth to pathways to become STEM leaders within their schools and communities. Interns will learn about modern environmental issues and put that knowledge into action while using the Bronx River as a living laboratory. Interns will engage in timely and relevant discussions on topics like: climate change, pollution and habitat loss, and environmental justice. Students will work with Alliance staff at the newly completed River House, which features an indoor classroom, multi-purpose room, and water quality laboratory. Through this paid experience, students will gain real-world, hands-on field and laboratory experience.
Students are expected to commit to meeting four days a week during Summer 2022, twice weekly with occasional Saturdays during the 2022-2023 academic year, and four days a week again in Summer 2023. Participants can earn a total of $4,000 over the course of the program, along with transferablecollege credit!
