BRONX RIVER RAMBLE:
Soundview Park
Saturday, October 20th 10AM-1PM
Meet below the Elder Avenue #6 Subway station, Westchester Avenue and Elder Avenue

Join historian Stephen Paul DeVillo for a look at the left bank of the Bronx River Estuary. We’ll make our way down the beautiful new path of the Bronx River Greenway, trace lost creeks and salt marshes, and view the site of a pioneering oyster bank restoration project. We’ll also learn just how this piece of the Bronx actually came from Brooklyn, view a unique neighborhood that resulted from a disaster, and speculate on the origins of the park’s mysterious “crop circle.” Plus we’ll hear about the shipwrecks of the “Devil’s Belt,” see where they “sank” the Titanic, and salute the birthplace of Betty Boop. And bring your binoculars – we may see some migrating water birds as well!

The tour begins at 10AM Saturday, October 20th below the Elder Avenue #6 Subway station at Westchester Avenue and Elder Avenue. (Also reachable by Bx 4 and 27 buses.).

The tour is free and requires no reservations, and will take about 2½ hours, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water. For more information call the Bronx River Alliance at 718-430-4665 or info@bronxriver.org.

Bronx River Rambles are a program of free monthly walking tours focused on the history and environment of the River’s different communities, sponsored by the Bronx River Alliance, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of the Bronx River www.bronxriver.org.

October 27, 2012 (10am-2:00pm)
Million Trees NYC
Shoelace Park

Unfortunately, our Million Trees planting project has been cancelled due to hurricane flooding predictions. It doesn't make sense to plant baby tree in possible flood zones and have the trees get washed away.

We have rescheduled our tree planting initiative for November 10th. Please join us same place same time "Shoelace Park 219th Street and Bronx Blvd." Gloves, and shovels will be provided. Free, please contact Joseph Sanchez at Joseph.Sanchez@parks.nyc.gov if interested in participating.

Thank YOU! & Sorry for the inconvenience.
