Celebrating 25 years of the Bronx River Alliance!
The Annual Amazing Bronx River Flotilla is our unique fundraising event where participants embark on a special five-mile journey down the Bronx River. The funds raised are then used to fund our free and low-cost community paddles for over 1,000 Bronx children and families. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026 and we hope to see you there!
This year’s Flotilla is extra special as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Bronx River Alliance! In honor of this milestone, paddlers will embark on a special 5-mile journey, extending beyond our usual four-mile route and ending at Hunts Point Riverside Park instead of our headquarters at Starlight Park.
How does it work? A designated captain will form a team of 6 people (in 3 canoes) to paddle 6-miles down the Bronx River. Each individual will need to pay a $50 registration fee and commit to fundraising a total of $350, for a total of $400 per person or $2,400 per team.
Paddlers need to register in advance.
Individual spots are also available, if you do not have a team please contact Mailah Medina (mailah.medina@bronxriver.org) to help you find one.
We help support your fundraising! We provide you with your very own online fundraising webpage to spread the word to family, friends and social networks.
Don’t want to paddle or unable to fundraise? You can still contribute or join! Contribute to the event and your favorite teams here.Â
The Amazing Paddle Details! On Saturday, May 16, 2026 you’ll get a chance to paddle through the only freshwater river in all of New York City. We will be paddling through the New York Botanical Garden, Bronx Zoo, and Concrete Plant Park. Along the way, paddlers will witness native wildlife and get a peek of the Zoo’s Bison exhibit and the fish ladder at the 182nd street dam! (Note: We will offer on-site support when possible, but please be ready to carry or wheel your canoe with your partner at these portage sites.)
The paddle will start at Shoelace Park and end at Hunts Point Riverside Park with a celebration with food, drinks, music, dancing, and much more!
We provide you with all the necessary equipment: a canoe, paddles, and life vests for your team. To sign up for this event you must be 18 years of age and feel comfortable canoeing in rivers. All participants will receive a T-shirt and a goody bag at the end of their trip. There will be fun prizes for the top fundraising teams and individuals.
You MUST bring both the Adult Waiver Form as well as the Consent to Use Name and Likeness Form on the day of the event in order to participate.
Spots are limited for the 5-mile paddle. The time is now! Form your team, come up with an exciting team name, choose your designated captain, and start raising funds. Your support will make canoeing on the Bronx River accessible for thousands of New Yorkers to enjoy!

Help fund our paddling season! This event is vital, as it keeps our river accessible to over 1,000+ Bronx residents
