Help us make this year’s Flotilla a success! Our Annual Bronx River Flotilla is a major fundraising event for the Bronx River Alliance, and it helps us fund our paddling season and make our River accessible to over 1,000 Bronx residents.
Volunteer Roles include:
- Registration table/event preparation at Shoelace Park: Help attendees sign in, make sure waivers are collected, and that all equipment is ready for an on-time start
- Boat launching at Shoelace Park: Make sure paddlers have a properly-fitting PFD, an appropriate paddle, and help them enter the canoes and start their paddle safely
- On-water safety or dam patrol (for experienced canoers or kayakers ONLY): Assist paddlers as needed on the water, or post up at one of the 3 dams requiring a portage along the route
- Portage Volunteer (NYBG Stone Mill Dam, Bronx Zoo Twin Dam, or 180th St. Dam): Help paddlers exit the river, move canoes, or re-enter the river at one of the 3 portage locations along the route
- Boat retrieval at Starlight Park: Help paddlers disembark safely at the River House dock
- Finish line celebration at River House: Help move boats and equipment, take pictures, or hand out goodie bags to attendees
Each of these roles has a different location, start time, and end time. Please fill out our interest form, to indicate your preferred role(s).
Thank you for helping to make the Amazing Bronx River Flotilla happen!
