Victoria Sammartino is a lifelong Bronxite. She began her career as an educator at the high school for girls on Rikers Island and went on to found Voices UnBroken, a Bronx-based arts and social justice organization that she served as Executive Director of for fifteen years. After stepping down from leadership, she launched a consulting practice working with local and national social justice organizations to grow and strengthen programming and organizational infrastructure. She holds a BA in Community Arts from Bennington College and a certificate from Georgetown University’s Juvenile Justice & Child Welfare: Multi-System Integration Certificate Program for Private Sector Leaders. She completed Rockwood Leadership Institute’s Art of Leadership and Advanced Art of Leadership. She was a founding member of the Justice Art Coalition and sat on the Advisory Board of the Center for Bronx Nonprofits at Hostos. She is the recipient of Bennington College’s Elizabeth Coleman Visionary Leadership Award and the New York Women’s Foundation’s Neighborhood Leader Award. She was also awarded a Petra Fellowship and a Union Square Award, and was named of 25 Influential Bronx Women by The Bronx Times.
