We hope everybody is staying safe and healthy. We wanted to take the time to keep you all posted on new impacts from Covid-19. NYC Parks, including the Bronx River Greenway, remain open, however, out of precaution, NYC Parks has implemented the following measures to ensure social distancing and safety of park goers:
- All dog runs are now closed until further notice
- All playgrounds are now closed until further notice
- Water fountains remain out of service
- Basketball courts, handball courts, tennis courts, skateparks, volleyball courts, and bocce courts are all closed until further notice
- Nature Centers and Rec Centers are closed until further notice
- Comfort Stations remain open and are being disinfected daily
- Absolutely no group gatherings or team sports are permitted and it is encouraged to keep 6 feet between yourself and other people
Remember to also take precautions to protect yourself and others. Wash your hands often, cough into your arm, and the CDC is now recommending to wear a mask or other face covering whenever you leave your home.

And now some information on exciting new construction on the Greenway!
As part of the Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvement Project, NYS Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is constructing Garrison Park, a new small park and important link in the Bronx River Greenway just south of Concrete Plant Park.
The project will create a multi use trail in Garrison Park with seating and overlooks of the Bronx River. The park entrance will be located on Garrison Ave and Edgewater Road and connect to Concrete Plant Park via an underpass underneath the Bruckner Bridge.
This critical connection provides more waterfront access to South Bronx residents and safer access to Hunts Point and Hunts Point Riverside Park.
Construction has begun and is expected to be completed by summer 2022.
During construction there have been and will continue to be some impacts to Concrete Plant Park. Trees have been removed along the southern end of the park, trucks and vehicles will be moving in and out of the park periodically, and the meadow has been closed temporarily to facilitate access for the larger Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvement Project. Any damaged lawns or landscaping will be repaired.
