Protecting, improving and restoring the Bronx River corridor is a big job—everyone in the community has a different role to play. Find the perfect activity for you to get involved in the Bronx River restoration whether you want to join peers like you in a volunteer event or you want are ready to take on a project on your own!Â
Â
1. Connect with your land and community
Connect from your hands, mind, heart, and senses. Join with us and other caring volunteers to restore the river, refresh the parks, grow food for the community, and more.
2. Become a Litter Ambassador
NYC Parks is looking for Littler Ambassadors—caring New Yorker’s like YOU who will distribute orange garbage bags to neighbors at their local parks to guide them to properly dispose of their trash.
Ambassadors should be willing to volunteer at least four hours throughout the summer to help keep our Starlight Park and Concrete Plant Park clean for everyone to enjoy!
For more info, please contact Lexi, Volnteer Coordinator via volunteer@bronxriver.org or call (718) 542-4284.
3. Become an Air or Water Quality Ambassador
Monitor air quality levels, take data, and alert our team when the air quality becomes unsafe.Â
Unable to commit to monitoring? Sign up for the Daily Breather, an alert that sends our air quality outlook, plus some cool fun facts, events, and more.
Â
Or, participate in our biweekly water quality monitoring program. Measure some of the worst pollution on the river and start advocating for the river’s protection.Â

4. Join a Team
Our advisory teams are true to the mission of the Bronx River Alliance and their beginnings in grassroots community organizing.
In advisory teams, community members help drive priorities and activities—whether it’s restoring the ecology, developing the greenway, or expanding the foodway.
Each team is open to the public and holds quarterly or monthly meetings. Click on a team below to learn more!
