Join us on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 for International Coastal Cleanup Day on the Bronx River! This stewardship-based paddle starts at Concrete Plant Park and ends at Soundview Park. Paddlers will move as a group to pick up floatable trash in the river as part of a larger cleanup effort. It takes paddlers through the lower saltwater portion of the river and is a great opportunity to get involved in your local community while having some fun!
*NOTE: While this is a free event, we have a $5 deposit requirement. Attendees will be reimbursed upon their completion of the event. This is done in order to dissuade people from signing up for slots they do not intend to use, limiting access to the event. Thank you for understanding!*
**NOTE: This section of the river is influenced by tides, current, and winds. Due to variable river conditions and the possibility of encountering some boat traffic, we limit this paddle to participants aged 14 years or older. This is an intermediate level paddle and we recommend that paddlers have some basic canoe or kayak experience for this particular trip.**
We will provide boats, paddles, PFDs, and a basic paddling safety orientation prior to getting on the water. We ask that participants wear appropriate athletic clothing that may get wet, including closed toe shoes! A ziploc bag to protect a phone or other essentials is also a great idea. We strongly recommend that participants bring a reusable water bottle and a snack for their time out on the water.
All participants must fill out and sign a release waiver before getting on the water.
COVID Safety Protocols: Please perform an at-home health check before attending this event, and stay home if you are experiencing any of the following: cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, or a new loss of taste or smell.
Registration will open 2 weeks before the event date. If you have any questions about this event, please feel free to email our Recreation Team: paddle@bronxriver.org.
