Join us on Sunday, October 8th 2023 for a Lake Paddle on the Bronx River! This guided paddle starts and ends at the Bronx Zoo Mitsubishi Riverwalk. It takes paddlers through wooded sections of the river within the New York Botanical Garden and the Bronx Zoo. This section of the river is very calm and is a great introduction for beginner paddlers and families of all ages.
*Please note: We will not be able to provide parking access for vehicles. Participants who plan to drive and park on zoo property must pay zoo parking fees.
Paddlers will have the option of a canoe (for doubles and families) or a single-person kayak. Solo paddlers will be given priority for our limited number of kayaks. We will provide boats, paddles, PFDs, and a basic paddling safety orientation prior to getting on the water. We ask that participants wear appropriate athletic clothing that may get wet, including closed toe shoes! A ziploc bag to protect a phone or other essentials is also a great idea.
All participants must fill out and sign our Bronx River Alliance Paddle Waivers before getting on the water.
COVID Safety Protocols: Participants are encouraged to wear face masks, at their own discretion. Please perform an at-home health check before attending this event, and stay home if you are experiencing any of the following: cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, or a new loss of taste or smell.
Registration will open at 10am, 2 weeks before the event date. If you have any questions about this event, please feel free to email our Recreation Team: paddle@bronxriver.org
