Join Giselle of Best Special Kids for this 1.5-2hr workshop that engages children with disabilities and their families in a sensory-friendly horticulture and art experience. Participants will decorate nursery pots and plant herbs or small vegetables, combining creativity with hands-on learning.
The workshop is designed to be inclusive and accessible, with adapted materials, visual supports, and flexible participation. Caregivers are encouraged to participate, strengthening family engagement and reinforcing learning at home.
Through this workshop, participants will build fine motor and creative skills, learn basic gardening practices, and develop confidence in a supportive environment. The session also introduces families to ongoing community-based, nature-centered programming.
Our goal is to create an inclusive space where children can connect with nature, express themselves, and build meaningful skills while fostering a sense of belonging.
Note: This is one of this year’s Community Grant workshops. For questions or concerns, email Nathan.Hunter@parks.nyc.gov or call 718-542-4124.
