Celebrate Black Birders Week 2024 (May 25-May 30) with NYC Bird Alliance! Black Birders Week was created in 2020 by the BlackAFinSTEM Collective to celebrate and empower Black individuals in nature, promoting a more inclusive, diverse, and welcoming space.  Learn more at BAFiS website.
Join NYC Bird Alliance and Bronx River Alliance for a FREE bird outing in the Bronx River Forest! Extending south into the New York Botanical Garden, The Bronx River Forest is a remnant of the original forests and floodplains that once blanketed the Bronx River corridor. Recent projects led by NYC Parks and the Bronx River Alliance to restore the river’s corridor and increase habitat have made it a perfect place to spot birds and other wildlife!
Meeting Location: The group will meet on Burke Avenue Bridge (a pedestrian bridge in the park that crosses over the river).
Accessibility and Directions:
The Bronx River Forest contains primarily natural, unpaved paths. You can enter the park via a staircase at Burke Avenue or through Rosewood Playground, where there are also public restrooms located. The closest subway stop is Burke Ave on the 2 and 5 lines.
Registration is encouraged.
