Join The Bronx Filmmakers Collective and the Bronx River Art Center for a free workshop and film challenge exploring the Bronx River through personal storytelling! Learn about film diaries, get inspired by experimental and nature-focused films, and create your own short piece. No experience needed—just your creativity and a recording device!
April 19 | 10:30 AM — Kick-Off Workshop
At this session, we’ll:
– Learn about the Bronx River’s history and environmental significance
– Explore the genre of film diaries, a form of experimental documentary
– Go over the rules for participating in this unique film challenge
You’ll then have a few days to film and edit your own project, with guidance from experienced filmmakers available if needed.
April 23 | All Day — Film Diary Deadline
Submit your final cut by the end of the day to be included in the showcase.
April 25 | 7:00 PM — Public Screening & Celebration
We’ll gather at BRAC to screen everyone’s work and celebrate the stories we’ve captured. Selected films will remain on view as part of an exhibit at BRAC for one month.
