Join the Bronx River Alliance for an exploration of the Cross Bronx Expressway – from a canoe!

As part of the #ReimaginetheCrossBronx study, Bronx River Alliance is hosting workshops to collect ideas of what the corridor should look like in the future. Our focus will, of course, be the portion of the Cross Bronx Expressway that goes over the Bronx River.

This will be a morning paddle starting at 9am, with a capacity of up to 30 participants and either one or two waves of canoes depending on the amount of registrations. Participants should expect to spend up to an hour on the water, and should come prepared with a water bottle, sunscreen, and and sun-protective clothing. The Alliance will provide some Clif bars as well as hand sanitizer and bathroom/water fountain access. Participants have the option to stick around and enjoy pupusas for lunch courtesy of Lorena.

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What to think about before the Cross Bronx Community Paddle:

• How should we reduce the traffic noise from the expressway?
• Where would you like to see more green space added to the corridor?
• How would you improve public transit in the area?
• Is the Cross Bronx outdated altogether?
• Does the Cross Bronx really need elevated service roads near the portion above the Bronx River?
