Join us on the Bronx River with Sana Ashraf for plant-based paper making! While paper products today are largely mass produced, the techniques and guiding methodology are still rooted in its handmade origins. As such, this is a craft that can be easily adapted to a variety of materials, without investing in expensive equipment, and with a little creativity allows us to utilize and upcycle materials available in the plant world, our recycling bins, and even kitchen scraps intended for the compost pile.
The session will involve a guided gathering of plant materials* from Concrete Plant Park, which will then be used to implement the process of plant based paper making.
*The bulk of this will be focused on plants whose removal benefits the ongoing weeding and other stewardship works.
