Join Transportation Alternatives for their celebratory 2nd Annual Women’s Month Bike Ride in the Bronx on March 25th, 2023!
This free event will be taking place again throughout the Bronx and Upper Manhattan. This year we will have an 9-mile All Level ride, and end with a rally and celebration.
This annual event seeks to address the dramatic gender disparities in cycling in New York City, where women comprise 53% of the overall population but just 33% of cyclists on our streets. While 2021 saw a significant bike boom on our streets, with higher gains among women cyclists (a 147% increase compared to 68% among men), the overall disparity remains today.
This ride is presented in partnership with Citi Bike, New York City Council Member Amanda Farías, the Council’s Women’s Caucus, New York City Council Member Selvena Brooks-Powers, Chair of the Council’s Transportation Committee and Transportation Alternatives.
This ride will both be scenic and will provide an important opportunity to witness transit issues in the Bronx and Upper Manhattan and how they affect marginalized groups of women in real-time and discuss solutions that creatively reimagine our landscape with women’s safety at the forefront.
