Join Lizbeth for an exploration of the freshwater turtles that reside in the Bronx River in Shoelace Park, while learning about local ecology and conservation. We will learn to identify native and non-native turtle species and use iNaturalist, a community science app, to document wildlife observations. This workshop also includes a park clean-up to help protect turtle habitats and support the health of the Bronx River ecosystem. The goals of the workshop are to increase awareness of urban wildlife, encourage community involvement in conservation, and empower participants to contribute to environmental research and stewardship in their local parks.
