This is the most challenging portage. The portage is on the west (right), very close to the edge of the falls, so caution and preparation are important. Keep to the right as you approach the landing, and when traveling in a group, keep a safe distance apart. It is best to have at least two people move the boats, one to stand at the top of the waterfall, slowly passing one end of the boat to decend down the fish passage ramp. Launch back into the river on the left along the rocks at the foot of the fish ladder. At high water, there may be strong currents at the launch site, waders are recommended.
