IMG_6807 Antone wildcat(1)

My name is Antwoine Williams, an intern with the Wildcat Young Adult Program, a paid internship program that helps young adults like me get back into the workforce by gaining experience in their field of interest. They placed me with the Bronx River Alliance Conservation Crew that goes out and cleans and remove things that don’t belong along the river. This worksite is also a great place to work and a place to learn a lot of new things. I learned about an invasive non- native weed called Japanese Knotweed, a plant which takes over an area where it doesn’t belong. We removed the Knotweed rhizomes to prevent them from growing back. This is a good experience because I used to work by myself, but now working with the Bronx River Alliance Crew, they help me to work as a team and have a good bond with the crew. I like this worksite a lot because it helps me to stay active and let me care more about the environment and the world that I live in and how to take care of it.
