Monitoring at 174th St. with YMPJ

10_23_08 021

On a beautiful fall afternoon, Steven Olivera of YMPJ took his three Fannie Lou Hamer students out to the river to perform their weekly water quality monitoring. One of the interns, Toni, is a seasoned monitor having been originally trained in Rocking the Boat’s Job Skills program. Some large fish were seen working their way upstream, though they were not identified. Here Toni checks the dissolved oxygen levels to make sure that it is adequate for those fish.
