Calling All Young Birders! 2020 “I Bird NY” Challenges NOW OPEN!

 Are you 16 years or younger and live in New York State? If you have an interest in birds and birdwatching, the "I Bird NY" challenges for beginners or experienced birders are now open! 

In this challenge, you will be tasked with finding 10 common New York bird species, and when you have completed the challenge, DEC will send you a special certificate of completion! You will also be entered into a random prize drawing for birding accessories.

All you need to do is download the I Bird NY Beginner’s Challenge form (PDF) or Experienced Birder Challenge form (PDF) and get started today! Both the beginner and experienced birder challenges are open now through September 30th. All entries must be received by October 14th.

DID YOU KNOW? New York State is home to a wide range of habitats that support more than 450 different bird species throughout the year! In New York, there are also 59 designated Bird Conservation Areas to safeguard and enhance bird populations and habitats.
