The Bronx River Alliance has worked to advance the 8-mile on-street and off-street shared use path known as the Bronx River Greenway. The Bronx River Greenway when complete will parallel the entire length of the Bronx River as it enters New York City from the Bronx-Westchester County border and continues to Soundview Park where the river enters Long Island Sound and the East River.
