Anike Cherry

Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator
Anike is a passionate environmentalist and gardener. Hailing from Co Op City in the Bronx, her passion for the environment was born out of concern at a young age upon learning about global warming and climate change. During her senior year at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, she took an AP Environmental Science class that fundamentally changed the trajectory of her life to one of sustainable living; causing her to transition to a plant based diet, a low/zero waste lifestyle, a public transit advocate, and so much more. Anike first attended SUNY Albany to pursue a degree/career in Social Work, but later decided to switch her studies to Environmental Science at Lehman College.
It was during the pandemic lock-down that Anike began volunteering with several environmental organizations- one of those being the Bronx River Alliance. Since then, Anike has been a committed volunteer and finally, joined the Alliance as a staff member. Anike is also a member of Morning Glory Community Garden in the Bronx and is fiercely determined to become self sufficient growing her own food as well as being a part of Morning Glory’s legacy of feeding community members locally grown, organic food for free.
