Elena is a lifelong New Yorker whose first connection with the BxRA dates back to 2003, when she worked on environmental justice campaigns in Hunts Point. She has a background in organizing, policy, and urban planning, which she used to support low-income communities of color pursuing greater self-determination during her 14-year tenure at the Pratt Center for Community Development. She’s an adjunct instructor at CUNY’s School of Labor and Urban Studies, loves nature and science, enjoys riding her bike, and learning how to paddle — and is thrilled to have the opportunity to serve while the BxRA is undergoing a leadership transition.
