Journei Bimwala is a Bronx native who has dedicated her life to educating Bronx communities on the importance of using native plants. Journei began her skills as an educator through her homeschool program. She now educates Alliance staff, partners and volunteers—as well as the broader community—about the importance of medicinal and native plants and how we can incorporate them into our everyday life. The Bronx River Alliance serves as a coordinated voice for the river and works in harmonious partnership to protect, improve and restore the Bronx River corridor so that it can be a healthy ecological, recreational, educational and economic resource for the communities through which the river flows.
The Alliance works in close partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and with over one hundred other partners to reclaim the Bronx River.
