Born and raised in Washington Heights, Katherine Acosta has spent more than 15 years working with nonprofit organizations dedicated to strengthening communities and improving quality of life for New Yorkers. Her career has included work in youth development, affordable housing, public health, family services, and community-based initiatives serving neighborhoods across New York City.
As Director of Development and Communications at the Bronx River Alliance, Katherine leads fundraising, communications, and strategic partnerships to support the Alliance’s mission to protect, improve, and restore the Bronx River. Having grown up spending much of her time in New York City’s parks and public spaces, she understands the important role they play in community well-being and is inspired by the Alliance’s work to create healthier, more vibrant communities through access to nature, recreation, and environmental education.
Outside of work, Katherine enjoys salsa dancing, caring for her houseplants, exploring new destinations, expressing her creativity through fashion, and could eat tacos every day.
