Get ready to explore the ONLY freshwater river in all of New York City!
The Annual Amazing Bronx River Flotilla is a 4-mile paddle down the Bronx River to raise funds for the Alliance’s Paddling Program and the River. Save the date: Saturday May 04, 2024 (Rain date: Sat. May 18, 2024).Â
This year is especially significant as it marks the 50th Anniversary of the Bronx River Restoration (BxRR). The BxRR originated from a community-led initiative in 1974, they aimed to purify our River and expand our greenway for all New Yorkers to enjoy!Â
How does it work? A designated captain will form a team of 6 people (in 3 canoes) to paddle 4-miles down the Bronx River. Each individual will need to pay a $50 registration fee and commit to fundraising a total of $350, for a total of $400 per person or $2,400 per team.
Paddlers need to register in advance.
Individuals spots are also available, if you do not have a team please contact Mailah Medina (mailah.medina@bronxriver.org) to help you find one.

The Amazing Paddle Details! On Saturday, May 04, 2024 (rain date: May 18), you’ll get a chance to paddle through the only freshwater river in all of New York City. We will be paddling through the New York Botanical Garden, the Bronx Zoo, and get a close look at the fish ladder at the 182nd St. dam! (Note: We will offer on-site support when possible, but please be ready to carry or wheel your canoe with your partner at these portage sites.)
The paddle will start at Shoelace Park and end at Starlight Park with a gathering at the unique River House.
We provide you with all the necessary equipment: a canoe, paddles, and life vests for your team. To sign up for this event you must be 18 years of age and feel comfortable canoeing in rivers. All participants will receive a T-shirt and a goody bag at the end of their trip. There will be fun prizes for the top fundraising teams and individuals.
You MUST bring both the Adult Waiver Form as well as the Consent to Use Name and Likeness Form on the day of the event in order to participate.
Spots are limited for the 4-mile paddle. The time is now! Form your team, come up with an exciting team name, choose your designated captain, and start raising funds. Your support will make canoeing on the Bronx River accessible for thousands of New Yorkers to enjoy!
