Starlight Park Phase 2, a three stage improvement project to bridge a critical gap in the greenway and expand and improve Starlight Park and access to it is well underway. Phase 2 will provide a seamless connection from Starlight Park to Concrete Plant Park and will include additional entrances and 3 new pedestrian bridges to increase park access, improved and expanded trailways, a dog park, improved signage, wetlands and a restored shoreline. The whole project is expected to be completed by 2021. Check out the progress in the photos below!
A new section of Starlight Park on Westchester Avenue that will provide a safe connection to Concrete Plant Park and wetland habitats for birds and marine life.
A huge amount of excavation and soil remediation took place as part of this project. The new lot adjacent to Bronx River Avenue is now cleared out and ready to become park land! This area will have two new entrances from Bronx River Avenue and bridges that connect towards the existing portion of Starlight Park and the new parcel near Westchester Avenue.
