E. Tremont & 177th – Greenway Team Project

East Tremont plan_ Bronx River Greenway_picture

The Project

The East Tremont and 177th Street link is a critical project that will help us complete the Bronx River Greenway while improving public safety of West Farms Square for community members. Funds were first allocated by then City Councilmember Ritchie Torres in 2007, and this project has been in discussion since at least 1999. However, after a series of delays over the last 25 years  and strong advocacy from the East Tremont Coalition, the Department of Design and Construction (DDC) has delivered an updated project timeline:

  • Fall 2023 – Outreach to community groups begins
  • December 2023 – Designs are finalized
  • Early 2024 – Bidding process begins
  • Fall 2024 – Capital project begins construction
  • Fall 2027 – Project is completed

DDC delivered updates to Bronx Community Board 6 and the Bronx River Greenway Team in October and November of 2023. You can find a PDF of the presentation here and a recording of the Bronx River Greenway Team meeting here.
