Following Governor Cuomo’s announcement of $1.8 billion to transform the Sheridan Expressway and improve vehicular access in and out of Hunts Point, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is now inviting public comment on the two facets of the proposed change:

  • Transformation of the Sheridan Expressway into a boulevard with three new pedestrian crossings to Starlight Park and the Bronx River. Click here for renderings of the proposal. There will be a project information meeting on Monday, July 24 from 5pm-8pm at PS811X (1434 Longfellow Ave, Bronx, NY 10459). Comments and questions may be directed to sheridan@dot.ny.gov.
  • Improved access for vehicles between Hunts Point and the Bruckner and Sheridan Expressways. Click here for renderings of two different proposals that NYSDOT is currently evaluating. NYSDOT is inviting public comment on these alternatives by July 27, 2017. You can email comments to HuntsPoint@dot.ny.gov.

Both proposals would reshape the lower Bronx River corridor for years to come! Make sure your voice is heard.
