In 2017 the Bronx River Alliance tested for fecal pathogens in the Bronx River over 5 months. Our volunteered river stewards tested 81 different samples throughout Westchester and Bronx counties and kept on pace with the sampling methods in past years.
The data gathered is beginning to show that a lot of water quality issues are starting upstream in Westchester County. In 2018, the goal would be to track down sources of pollution and address them before they enter the river.
None of the water quality efforts would be possible without our hardworking and thoughtful volunteers and donors such as the EPA, Westchester Community Foundation, and Patagonia and we thank them for their continuous support.
